CHS holds 45th Capping, Pinning and Candlelighting Ceremony

The BS Nursing batch 2022 of Catanduanes State University held its 45th Capping, Pinning and Candlelighting ceremony at Risen Christ Chapel last August 9, 2019.

The solemn ceremony began with an Eucharistic Celebration with Rev. Fr. Eric John T. Rojas as the officiating priest and was followed by capping, pinning and candle lighting proper.

Dr. Jocelyn Ll. Jordan, College of Health Sciences Dean in her opening remarks highlighted CHS’s accomplishments in the recently concluded Nursing Licensure Exam where the college had produced 3 topnotchers,7th,8th and 10th placers respectively and placing rank 8th in the Best Performing University offering BSN in the Philippines. She also lauded Eastern Bicol Medical Center (EBMC) Nursing Services who were also present at the ceremony headed by the chief nurse Mrs. Francisca A. Del Rosario and Assistant Chief Nurse Mrs. Salve V. Tabo and Municipal Health Officer of Virac Dr. Elva M. Joson. “Thank you for your continued support, for being the light when there is darkness and for being a pillar of strength when there is weakness”, Dr. Jordan said.

Former Philippine Nursing Student Association Vice President Vince G. Aguilar in his petition to wear the cap mentioned that the 112 Junior Nursing students are committed to give tender loving care to their clients no matter what circumstances are. He also challenged his fellow junior students to carry the 6 C’s of Nurses; commitment, competence, compassion, confidence and care and to think critically and use the nursing processes for everything.

Dr. Minerva I. Morales who were that time attending a regional meeting in Legazpi City was duly represented by Prof. Ma. Theresa Sarmiento, Vice President for Administrative and Financial affairs congratulated CHS Family for their great performance and for sustaining excellence in the academe. “Excellence is our mission, Excellence is our job”, Prof. Sarmiento said.

The event became more solemn when the candidates for capping sung “Today My Life Begins” and “Follow your Dream” which were both conducted by Prof. Leticia A. Tolledo. The event culminated with the singing of CSU Hymn.
