CSU celebrates 52nd ASEAN Founding Anniversary

Catanduanes State University, in commemoration of ASEAN 52nd founding anniversary held a solemn flag hoisting of ASEAN  and its ten (10) country members last August 8, 2019 at CSUs façade.

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 282 dated July 31, 2018 amending Proclamation No. 1008 dated 21 May 2018, August is declared as “ASEAN Month” in view of regional bloc’s founding on August 8, 1967. All Higher Education Institutions are mandated by Commission on Higher Education to hold activities and implement programs in celebration of the 52nd Anniversary.

CSU’s observance commenced with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem followed by a message of the CSU’s SUC President III, Dr.Morales. “We greet the Association of South East Asian Nations on the occasion of its 52nd founding anniversary as it takes up the challenge of moving together, to keep pace with global changes, and of promoting the global sustainable development agenda- which are envisioned to help build the ASEAN community with the people as the center and without leaving anyone behind.” Dr. Morales said.

Present in the occasion were heads of offices who led the hoisting in their respective colorful costumes. Laboratory Schools students showcased Asian dances with their glittering and colorful costumes, the event culiminated with  the signing of ASEAN Hymn conducted by Professor Cresencia Arcilla.
