Newly-elected FCSC president, student leaders pay courtesy call to Pres. Morales
The Federated College Student Council (FCSC) of the Catanduanes State University (CSU) has its new set of officers with Ms Jaquelyn R. Geromo of the College of Engineering (COE) as elected President. She then qualifies to sit in the Board of Regents (BOR) for a one-year term representing the student sector. Geromo replaced Jonel Trinidad in the Board and at FCSC.
The Office of the Vice-President for Academic Affairs headed by Dr. Maria S. Tugano, and the Student Support Services (OSSA) led by its Director, Dr. Nancy D. Magtangob, organized a courtesy call on February 12, 2019 to Dr. Minerva I. Morales, CSU President, following the elections of the FCSC, along with some 22 newly elected student leaders. They were accompanied by three representatives from the CSU Commission on Elections (COMELEC). Geromo, during the visit, and the other elected FCSC officers presented their respective profile and position as elected in the student body to Dr. Morales.
For her part, Dr. Morales expressed appreciations to the offices of the Academic Affairs and the OSSA for facilitating the courtesy call, and to the FCSC and the student leaders for their presentation as well. She enjoined the student leaders to have an open communication among themselves in the student body, and with the CSU administration as it will ultimately benefit the students.
“The goal of the university particularly on Instruction is to get 100% Certificate of Program Compliance for academic programs that will serve as our ticket to be comparable with other universities not just in the Philippines but also in the region and the rest of the world.,” Dr. Morales stressed. She added that the CSU provides the fertile grounds, such that as champion, you are always on your toes, and that student leaders are expected to be at their best and in their full potentials to serve the expectations of the students.
Dr. Morales likewise informed the student-leaders of the newly built facilities in the university, as she took special mention of the on-going and biggest project so far of the CSU which is the three-storey Dormitory Building and the rubberized oval running track. During the visit, the students likewise expressed their agenda which need to be addressed by the administration; the manner of channeling issues of which were taken up in the meeting where the Deans would play an important role in the process to fully back up early resolution of any issues and concerns from the students.
